More WILD-life from the great CALIFORNIA OUTDOORS

Elder Miles & Elder Trounce were doing a service project with some other Elders in their district...
Elder Mardesich & Elder Maloney. I don't believe the service was to look for RATTLESNAKES though...

(we'll be praying extra hard that Elder Miles loses his fascination with "playing with fire"...  aka SNAKES!)

There's a posum in here somewhere....

Completely OVERJOYED!!

Wow!! Elder Miles looks so HAPPY to finally get his

HAPPY BIRTHDAY package!!! hee hee....

It went to the "other" Elder Miles so this Elder Miles gets a birthday surprise a week later:) maybe I shouldn't post him in his garments, but there ya go...

April 25, 2016 "CPR" Churching, Praying, Reading!!

First off I would like to thank everybody for the birthday wishes! I did have an awesome birthday.

It started off with a service project at a horse ranch in the morning. We ran into a pretty nice size rattler. Then we got to take care of some horses. Then a member took us to lunch at a place call Lucills. It's a southern bbq restaurant. It was pretty flippin good! Then later that night we went to our ward mission leader's house. Ate some cake, and played some ping pong. Well more like sting pong. But all in all it was a really good day.

Shannon is still doing good. He's thinking of pushing his date a couple days earlier. He is doing CPR. Churching, Praying, Reading. Still progressing.

Our bishop asked us to speak at a fireside last night. I chose to talk more about the gospel of Jesus Christ/enduring to the end. And focused on baptism and the sacrament. It is hard to type it all. But I would just like to encourage you to study the sacramental prayers. It really has made the sacrament have so much more meaning. Knowing that we can be just as clean during the sacrament as we were at baptism. Anyways I gotta get going. But again thanks for all you do!

Love,

Elder Miles

It's ok, don't worry! Elder Miles has not fallen on his face & can't get up....he says, "I'm really starting to get in to yoga!" Now I don't claim to be a yoga expert, but I'm thinking this might be one of the new practices called "GOOF-Ball-er Ramas"....yes, I believe that's what they call it...
Ok so this is another thing I am not familiar with...
Elder Miles says, "This is my Nacho Libre Hut!" So apparently this will be much funnier to you Nacho Libre fans:)...I have yet to see the movie, I know, I've been told it's a crime to admit that...

Elder Trounce, Elder Mardesich, Elder Maloney & Elder Miles were able to help with a "unique service opportunity." Says Sister Becky Demke, "Taming this giant Kodiak bear!"

Thanks so much Sister Demke for sending the photo!!:)

Sister Cassidy Forsyth is a former missionary that served in the Carlsbad, CA mission! She returned home last fall & was just recently visiting her old mission "stomping grounds" & taking photos of all the cute BOYS & GIRLS with black name tags:) Among them were these good-looking Elders!

April 18, 2016 More families for Elder Miles & Elder Trounce to serve!

Hello Hello!

Well this week was pretty good. Shannon is still progressing. It's almost too good to be true, because he never has a ton of questions. He answers them himself through his own personal study. So he is super solid. We are working with some part-member families right now as well. The Lindskogs, and the Coffinos. Mr. Coffino fought in Vietnam. So he always tells us his Nam stories. All we are really able to do with the Lindskogs is service. We have helped him put in a sprinkler system and trees and grass. So that has been fun.

We are still working hard every day. I don't have much else to say ha ha but I hope you all are doing well! I gotta get going and will talk to you all next week.

Love,
Elder Miles

P-Day is a great time to get out & STRETCH!!

"We play some serious football here!" says Elder Miles

April 11, 2016 "Things are starting to turn around in the Winchester, Murrieta ward"!

Hello,

This week was pretty good. Last night we were able to have a lesson with Shannon a former investigator. He told us that he is ready to progress. We set him on date for the 14th of May. He is excited. But probably not as excited as us! He has a son that is 7 years old as well, that turns 8 during the summer. Hopefully by then it will be a child of record baptism.

Also last night while we were finishing up, we were walking home and saw an ambulance in front of one of our recent converts house. We asked what was going on but they wouldn't tell us. But she was admitted to the hospital. Her name is Linda. She is the sweetest lady I've met so far on my mission. She is 50 something years old, but has a lot of health problems because until about a year ago she was a chain smoker. It's pretty cool to hear her stories about her conversion. So if you would keep her in your prayers for us that would be great!

This is the beginning of a new transfer. Elder Trounce and I are staying together for at least six weeks. We are really starting to see our ward pick it up a little bit. They are liking the "What's Next" thing that we are doing. And they are starting to like us! Things are starting to turn around in the Winchester, Murrieta ward.

Well we are gonna go play football now so I will talk to you all next week!

Love,
Elder Miles

We sent him some new tenny-runners for his birthday coming up April 21st! Should've asked him to take a picture straight on....you could customize the label at the top of each shoe & we had them say "ELDER" and "MILES"...if you look close this left foot has the MILES on it:)

We love NIKE! Thanks Nat & James for helping us get them ordered & shipped!! And Thanks Brian for being such a great BIG BROTHER & letting us have such great perks!!:)

Loved this quote when I saw it & wanted to pair it with one of the favorite photos

"BROS" for life!

April 4, 2016 "Blessings of choosing the right becomes delicious" (love that he uses the word DELICIOUS:)

Hello,

This week was pretty darn great. We were able to meet with a bunch of our members. Elder Trounce and I have come up with something that should really help our ward get excited about missionary work! And because it's super new still, we haven't seen a whole lot come from it yet but it looks promising. It's called What's Next? So what we do is share a quick message with the whole family. Then ask for names. Not an address or phone number or anything. Just names. Then with that name, we challenge them to do something that will help that name come closer to Christ. So that they, the members, can have the same blessings of missionary work. The same blessings that missionaries get. Then we follow up with them and ask, "Well, what's next?" And hopefully it will lead to, "Well I think it's time for them to meet with the missionaries!" They were some suggestions that President Kendrick gave us. So we are super excited for that.

Also General Conference was this weekend!! I love General Conference. I can't say what my favorite talk was. They were all super good. I did like President Monson's quote, "We need to take the harder right, instead of the easier wrong." But when I heard that, the harder right ends up being so much easier. Because when we are able to see the blessings of choosing the right, it becomes delicious. We have eternal happiness instead of happiness for just a couple moments, hours, months, or a lifetime. The right choices we make now affect us even after this life. For eternity. So that in it's own should tempt us to do good! Then as we do good, it allows us to feel the pure love of Christ, also known as charity. Then we share it with others. That's just one of the thoughts I had.

We were also able to go on a hike with our zone today. Super fun.

Anyways I gotta get going.
But I will talk to you all next week!

Love,
Elder Miles

Got a fun text this past week from Sister Julie Allred

with these great photos!

Brother & Sister Allred are friends & neighbors of Elder Trounce & his family! They were able to spend some time with these cute Elders & took them to dinner then took them to the bike shop to get some new tubes!

Apparently Elder Miles & Elder Trounce have been walking everywhere because their tires were flat!

So grateful for wonderful people like the Allreds!
