Well it has definately been a good ride here in Carlsbad, California this year. I've had nothing but GOOD experiences. I could probably go through all of my experiences and pick out all of the "bad" ones. But you can't really call them bad. Because every single thing that has happened on my mission has been a learning experience. And that is a GOOD thing. After all it is the reason why we are here. I feel I have grown more this year than my whole life combined. I've grown Spiritually, Mentally, Physically and probably in a lot more ways that I can't see. And I know that very little if none of that would have happened if I didn't go on a mission.
Something that I have seen is there is no better way to learn than by applying gospel principles and Christlike attributes. And I know that everything that I have grown in has been a blessing because I strive to do what the Lord has asked.
D&C 130:21 "And when we obtain any blessing from God, it is by obedience to that law upon that which it is predicated."
And I don't want to sound self-righteous or prideful, but I have obeyed the commandments that God has given me. And I have seen how it has blessed my life. I have given up a lot, but have received more.
Mark 10:28-30 "28. Then Peter began to say unto him, Lo, we have left all, and have followed thee.
29. And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's.
30. But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life."
I have seen this. I know that you don't have to be a set apart full time missionary to see this. So what I would like to challenge you to do is to find something that you can change. Something hard. Something that will stretch you. And do it, and I can promise that if you are sincere, God will bless you. Odds are you already know what needs to change.
This week we set up lessons with former investigators and we found a new potential. We have a lesson with him tomorrow. He just showed up at church and told us he wants to have a better relationship with Christ! He is super cool. So we will see how this one goes.
Well I gotta get running but I hope you all have a good week!
Love,
Elder Miles
